Adeline & Frank Orloski
Exceptional family medicine
As a student nurse, Adeline Orloski recalls how her instructor, David W. Kistler, MD, impressed her with the gentle way he engaged and encouraged new student nurses. So, when the time came, Adeline and her husband, Frank, entrusted Dr. Kistler to deliver and care for their six children — and to comfort them when two of the children did not survive. Like many in the community, the Orloskis grew to appreciate and love the man for his dedication to their family, their community, and to excellent health care.
“Dr. Kistler has a drive and a passion to care for the entire family and to have a personal connection with each patient,” Adeline says, “as he was planning his retirement, he wanted to make sure families in the Wyoming Valley would have the benefit of a similar relationship with their physician.”
A man of action, Dr. Kistler would not leave such an important task to chance, so he conceived of a fund that would support a family practice residency program, that would attract more family practice physicians to the Wyoming Valley. When they learned of the fund, the Orloskis, of Mountain Top, PA, quickly signed on.
The Orloskis completed their generous pledge over five years. Now fully funded, the Kistler Family Medicine Endowment can begin to bring new family physicians into the Wyoming Valley.
