Gary Stoner Resident Education Fund
When Jack Nash, MD, came to Geisinger in 2009 as Chairman of Women’s Health Services, he recognized the need to support resident education, and he decided to make that part of his Geisinger legacy: a sustainable commitment to training excellent women’s healthcare providers and preparing the healthcare leaders of tomorrow.
In his 30-plus years as a gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Nash has long valued his own training and mentorship in the profession. He is also aware of the constraints on funding. Each year there are fewer healthcare dollars available for residents to present their research at national conferences — an important part of the resident experience. “Each of our residents is required to complete an in-depth research study. I would like to ensure that they can present their work at a professional gathering."

Dr. Stoner trained at Geisinger, stayed here throughout his career, and is now nearing retirement. Dr. Nash named the fund to honor Dr. Stoner’s commitment to resident education and to thank him for his years of service.
“Gary genuinely loves his work with residents,” said Dr. Nash of his colleague, “and wants to pass on his wisdom to those that follow.”
