With a generous donation from Governor William and Mary Scranton, Geisinger began Marworth Alcohol and Chemical Dependency Treatment Center to help family, friends, and neighbors in our community overcome addictions and turn their lives around. Geisinger Foundation continues to support this effort by providing funds to update treatment facilities and to develop new recovery programs.
Marworth consistently ranks among the top treatment centers in the country and has earned the highest accreditation possible from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Employees at Marworth understand that addiction is an illness that is treatable and can be held in remission, which is why counselors customize each patient’s recovery program to include the help of family and friends. A patient may seek help as a resident at our facilities or as an outpatient. Special programs are also available for healthcare and law enforcement professionals.
Help members of our community redefine their future
Marworth offers an invaluable service by providing expertise, compassion, and proven programs that enable people and families to start life anew. Donations improve program effectiveness and allow us to help more people. Donors may designate their gift to the general Marworth fund or direct their support to The Gift of Hope program that provides assistance and hope to those needing scholarships.
Geisinger Foundation raises funds to support the health system as it works to provide unparalleled care in orthopaedics, treat many of the most complicated conditions, and educate the next generation of orthopaedic physicians.
As the leading referral center for orthopaedic care in central and northeast Pennsylvania, Geisinger specializes in a wide variety of patient needs. Our orthopaedic experts work with athletes to address foot and ankle concerns, orthopaedic care for children keeps young bones strong, and our knee and hip center helps treat mobility challenges.
Geisinger also leads efforts to treat adult and pediatric orthopaedic spinal conditions. Such treatments require a depth of precision and the combined efforts of experts from the neurosurgery, pain management and rehabilitation medicine disciplines.
Redefine orthopaedic care
Support for Geisinger orthopaedic care helps fund research to develop stronger treatment options and helps meet the needs of our wide network of medical centers and physicians.
Geisinger believes everyone in our health system should have access to the comfort and the intangible healing power of prayer. To provide spiritual assistance, Geisinger Foundation supports PRAYERnet, an innovative, nondenominational outreach service that provides patients and their families with the opportunity to request prayer from volunteers online.
Geisinger PRAYERnet is the idea of a visionary benefactor who considers collective prayer an integral element of the care that patients need. PRAYERnet is part of Geisinger’s wider Spiritual Care services, a complete program put in place to guide and support patients through the healing process.
Honoring the spiritual reality of patients and families in the Geisiger Health System, PrayerNet provides comfort to patients and families during a critical time in their lives. Manager Mary Tiffin describes the project.
To date, PRAYERnet has served nearly 4,000 patients, and users from over 90 countries have visited the site to forward words of encouragement and prayers to Geisinger patients.

Residents in our 44-county service area depend on Geisinger to quickly deliver critical life-saving care during an emergency, when minutes mean the difference between life and death.
At Geisinger Foundation, we support state-of-the-art trauma centers throughout the region, including Life Flight® air ambulances in five locations and the only Level 1 Accredited Regional Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics in central Pennsylvania.
Many of our patients also face injuries or illnesses that do not warrant a trip to an emergency room, but do require immediate care within 24 hours — allergic reactions, fevers, minor burns, sprains, stitches, and more. For them, Geisinger Foundation also supports urgent care units for children and adults to provide them with the care they need.
