Neighborly education for better wellness
Reaching out to our community with free health fairs and events is not something we’re forced to do. It’s the right thing to do.
Community outreach promotes positive, healthy behaviors and encourages early detection and treatment of disease, plus it:
- Increase your understanding of healthcare resources in our communities
- Take more responsibility for your personal wellness
- Learn more about how your body functions
- Understand why taking medications and regular checkups keep you healthy
Did we see you at one of our events?
Working with local businesses, schools, community action groups and other healthcare facilities, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital (G-BH) serves our community through free education, partnerships and healthcare services.
Who do we target? Our entire community. We’re visiting local senior centers, elementary and secondary schools within Columbia, Montour, Luzerne and Northumberland counties, including Bloomsburg University and the local Area Agency on Aging, Inc.
Sometimes fun, always free and informative, we’ve had the pleasure to meet you and many of our neighbors at some of our great community health events. G-BH offers education and screenings that include:
- Stress management/Relaxation techniques
- Blood pressure
- Prostate/PSA testing
- Fall prevention
Our hospital departments provide health screenings, informational pieces, interactive games to promote learning and educational services at each local event. Our overall goal is to promote healthy lifestyles in our community.
