Helping Community Clinics Serve Another Day

Free healthcare for the under and uninsured in Scranton
Surviving in the space between limited healthcare access and no health insurance often leads to frightening choices.

High unemployment and low incomes force many families and seniors in our region to choose between food and medical care.

In Scranton, PA, free clinics like the Scranton Primary Health Care Center and Leahy Clinic for the Uninsured help fill the gap. From fixing scrapes to maternal medicine, no to low-cost healthcare makes a real difference in the lives of people who can't afford a doctor.

But with massive federal and state budget cuts to public health resources each year, free clinics need continuous operational support to fulfill their mission.

Geisinger is there

bridgeDonating support to community caregivers
Geisinger is in the fight for healthier communities and easing the burden of care for the uninsured and underinsured in our area. That's why we donate vital medical services such as lab work, x-rays, cat scans, ultrasounds and MRIs to Scranton Primary Health Care Center and Leahy Clinic for the Uninsured each year.

This partnership allows public and private health care services to function better, maximizes resources and creates a culture of caring that never depends on a patient's income.

Scranton Primary Health Care Center
Scranton Primary Health Care Center provides internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, a prenatal clinic and social services including homeless outreach. Low-income families make up most of their patient base and the clinic attracts underserved users from the entire county. GCMC takes patients from the Center who require more complex care.
