Preventing Underage Drinking & Drug Use
Mixin’ music with a powerful message
A leading killer of America's youth, almost everyone knows of a young life cut short or damaged from an alcohol or drug-related driving crash.
Jim Mothersbaugh is one of those statistics.
In 1984, when Jim was just a high school senior, he and three friends were involved in a drunk driving crash that killed one friend. Jim was left in a coma, paralyzed with a broken back.
After his crash, Jim felt the only way he could help was by sharing his story with young people.
And Road Radio U.S.A. was born.
For more than twenty years, Jim’s taken this brutally honest, award-winning musical show to schools across Pennsylvania (including our region), Maryland, New York, and Connecticut, warning students about the dangers—and tragic results—of underage alcohol use.
But it takes money to keep such a large and important project rolling.
Geisinger is there
We’re a yearly sponsor of Road Radio U.S.A.
Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger, a program of Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, is proud to help keep Jim and Road Road U.S.A. on the highway to share his story of loss, recovery and hope with thousands of teens every year.
If our contributions keep one teen from making Jim’s mistake, it’s worth it.
