CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK RAISES $2.5 MILLION Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger ended its 25th-annual Celebration Weekend Sunday evening with a total $2,506,275 raised to benefit Janet Weis Children’s Hospital pediatric services. The total was announced at the close of the annual Celebration broadcast, which serves as the culmination of year-round fundraising efforts. The Wilkes-Barre area broadcast, airing on WYOU, garnered $1,795,915 from corporate sponsors, community and employee groups, and phone-in pledges. The Johnstown-Altoona broadcast on WTAJ posted a total of $576,329, and the Binghamton, NY, broadcast on WBNG recorded $134,031. This year’s funds will continue the commitment to children’s health and well-being. The donations stay in the region, helping sick and injured children through programs, services and medical equipment. “We’re incredibly grateful for all the donors, volunteers and supporters who have helped make our 25th year such a success,” says Michael Ryan, DO, chairman of Geisinger pediatrics and Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger. “We’ve accomplished great things over the past two and a half decades, and are looking forward to providing the best possible care for future generations. The donations from this weekend bring us one step closer to that goal.” Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger helps make miracles happen every day at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, and more than 40 medical groups and pediatric specialty outreach clinics throughout a 31-county area. A nonprofit organization, it has raised more than $36 million for pediatric services, equipment and programs throughout Geisinger Health System since 1984.
