DANVILLE – Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger ended its annual Celebration Weekend Sunday, June 5, 2011 with $2,107,898 raised to benefit Janet Weis
Children’s Hospital pediatric services.
The total was announced at the close of the annual Celebration broadcast, which serves as the culmination of year-round fundraising efforts. The Wilkes-Barre area broadcast, airing on WYOU, garnered $1,426,344 from corporate sponsors, community and employee groups, and phone-in pledges. The Johnstown-Altoona broadcast on WTAJ posted a total of $606,901, and the Binghamton, NY, broadcast on WBNG recorded $74,653.
This year’s funds will continue the commitment to children’s health and well-being. The donations stay in the region, helping sick and injured children through programs, services and medical equipment.
“We are very honored by all the support we've received this year from the community. There are so many worthy causes in our region, and we understand that deciding which ones to help can be difficult," said Michael Ryan, DO, Chairman of Janet Weis Children's Hospital and Children's Miracle Network at Geisinger. "Fortunately, we'll be able to help thousands of local children with the donations we've received this year, and we hope our generous supporters will be proud to have been a part of that."
Donations still are being accepted online at www.geisinger.org/cmn.
