Egg Donor Program
Egg Donor Program
Geisinger’s Advanced Reproductive Endocrinologists oversee the Egg Donation Program for use during in vitro fertilization (IVF). The process involves using the eggs of a donor, usually the potential mother-to-be, for use in an IVF cycle. However, some women, particularly those over 40, do not have enough healthy eggs, and can become pregnant through donor eggs fertilized by the potential father’s sperm.
Egg donors may be known or unknown to the partners undergoing IVF. They are paid for their time and screened meticulously for eligibility, such as:
- 21 – 34 years of age
- General good health
- Non-smoker
- No substance abuse, either alcohol or illegal drugs
