Fertility Treatment
Fertility Treatment – The Geisinger Way
Geisinger’s Advanced Reproductive Technology Specialists (ART) provide a full range of fertility treatments. Drawing on a depth of clinical experience and the latest techniques, these reproductive endocrinologists, scientists, urologists, and obstetrician/gynecologists also provide support and empathy along your journey.
Fertility treatments include
- Drug therapy – drugs are sometimes prescribed to stimulate egg production or to release the egg during ovulation.
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI) – sperm is introduced into the cervix or uterus for conception.
- In vitro fertilization – assisted reproduction where the sperm and egg are fertilized outside the body and the dividing embryo is transferred into the uterus.
- Donor Program – when donor eggs or sperm are needed, our specialists coordinate the process and perform the procedures.
- Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) – a single sperm is injected directly into the egg during in vitro fertilization.
- Sperm and embryo cryopreservation – under certain conditions (including when a partner has cancer), sperm and embryos can be frozen for future use.
- Laparoscopic and conventional surgical correction of infertility – such as removal of endometrial scar tissue.
- Treatment of male infertility – a number of options are available, including urology consultation, testicular biopsy, ICSI, and donor sperm.
