About Sports Medicine

Our fellowship-trained orthopaedic and sports medicine specialists provide you with a high level of care for a full spectrum of sports-related injuries and conditions, keeping you healthy and active at all stages of life. Nationally recognized for their expertise, our sports medicine specialists treat injuries of the:

  • Head
  • Shoulder and elbow
  • Hand, wrist and fingers
  • Hip
  • Knee
  • Foot and ankle

Treatments may include nonsurgical methods, surgery or a combination of the two:

  • Minimally invasive arthroscopic surgical procedures or, when needed, traditional open surgery
  • Cortisone, corticosteroid, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or other injection therapies
  • Rest and the application of ice or heat
  • Prescription or nonprescription anti-inflammatory medications
  • Physical therapy and rehabilitation
  • Utilization of musculoskeletal ultrasound for guided injections and diagnostic images
  • Compartment testing

We offer extensive athletic training injury services and prevention education, and nonsurgical treatment services. We provide this specialized athletic training coverage for athletes in sports programs at 32 high schools and seven universities in Pennsylvania, as all as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey team.
