The Wray-Rudnitsky Endowment for Women’s Cancer Research

Marv and Raven Rudnitsky cherish their quality of life in central Pennsylvania.  As they see it:  “We’re so fortunate to live in a beautiful rural setting, with world-class health care just miles away.”

rudnitskyGeisinger’s proximity brings a sense of security to the Rudnitskys whose children and grandchildren also live nearby. They value the expert treatment and care that Geisinger provides.  When their daughter, Kim, encountered complications in her pregnancy two years ago, Geisinger’s Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists were invaluable.

“Kim and Bruce hope to have another child, so it’s comforting to know that expert care is right here,” said Raven.

Marv and Raven also recognize the importance of research.  “Our family histories include cancer and heart disease,” said Raven, “and we know that the basic and clinical research studies at Geisinger will benefit future generations.”

Marv and Raven were inspired to invest in Geisinger’s future by establishing the Wray- Rudnitsky Endowment for Women’s Cancer Research in memory of Raven’s sister, Margie Wray, who died of primary peritoneal cancer in 2009.  They know that Geisinger’s unique combination of electronic health record technology, stable population base, and cutting-edge genetics research can have a far reaching impact to advance novel research and discovery.

Marv’s philanthropic bent comes from his personal history.  “I was educated at Penn State through the generosity of others,” he said, noting that his undergraduate and graduate education was funded by scholarships.  Marv sums up the couple’s philosophy with a quote from Winston Churchill:  “You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”

Support cancer research. Change someone’s future.
