 | Reasons to Donate | | Trauma | | When an emergency occurs….every second counts for a patient to receive care. Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) in Danville operates one of only four Pennsylvania accredited Regional Trauma Centers (Level I) with additional accreditation in pediatrics. At Gesinger Wyoming Valley (GWV), we are preparing to create a Level II Trauma Center. Geisinger operates a total of five Life Flight regional helicopters; the crew consists of a pilot, | | | nurse, and paramedic who are part of a unique team of health care professionals who aid and transport patients. In 2003, Life Flight made more than 2,000 flights to transport patients at a pre-hospital scene emergency, between Geisinger medical centers, or neonates needing emergency care. The Life Flight program operates 24 hours a day and came to Geisinger in 1981. Our Life Flight helicopters are housed on the campus of GMC in Danville, with others based at Avoca Airport in Wilkes-Barre, University Park Airport in State College, Williamsport Regional Airport, and Schuylkill County. Geisinger Health System is continuing its tradition of excellence in surgery through expansion of advanced surgical procedures utilizing state-of-the art technology and the establishment of multi-disciplinary outpatient centers. Both liver and kidney transplant programs are being expanded at GMC and GWV to better serve our patients. - Click here for more information about Geisinger's Trauma Program
