Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Wilkes-Barre
For life’s most precious deliveries, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center has opened the first neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Luzerne County.
Should your premature newborn or infant require an advanced level of care, neonatologists and pediatric sub-specialists of Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital are now in Wilkes-Barre, staffing a 12-bed NICU. You’ll have the comfort of knowing you have an experienced team on your side.
Services and treatments provided in the NICU include:
- Continuous care for premature infants
- Continuous cardio-respiratory monitoring
- Supplemental oxygen
- CPAP and mechanical ventilation
- IV antibiotics and continuous IV fluids
- Naso-gastric feedings
- Portable X-ray and ultrasound capabilities
