Few things in life are as joyous as welcoming a new baby into your life. At Geisinger Wyoming Valley, we are dedicated to enhancing the experience for the laboring mother and her family. Located in a private wing, the Obstetrics Department is a secure unit where expectant mothers can relax from admission to discharge. The unit is newly renovated and features all private LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, and post-partum) suites with soft colors and relaxing wood tones. It houses two dedicated operating rooms for cesarean section births so that the laboring mother and her family never need to leave the Obstetrics Department.Geisinger Wyoming Valley was the first hospital in the Wilkes-Barre area to introduce LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Post-Partum) suites in the early 1980s. A recent renovation of the suites provides laboring women and new moms to relax in a private room with soft colors and relaxing natural wood tones. |
Our obstetrics floor also includes two C-section suites and a team of childbirth educators and lactation consultants. The nursery, also newly renovated, houses newborns in a comfortable environment where their families can watch them get washed, weighed, foot printed, and more. Geisinger practices rooming in procedures so that newborns can stay close to their mothers and enhance the bonding relationship. A team of childbirth educators and lactation consultations help educate new moms and their family on care for their newborn. Links |  |
