Opened in 2001, the Pearsall Heart Hospital at Geisinger Wyoming Valley is the first and only hospital in the region built specifically for heart patients.

The Pearsall Heart Hospital offers a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient heart services and research, as well as the highest level of service, with private rooms overlooking the scenic Wyoming Valley.

Our experienced team includes a cardiac-trained, all-registered nursing staff, and provides comprehensive approach to heart care that goes beyond traditional diagnosis and treatment and provides a method of care designed to improve all aspects of heart health.

Our services

• The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit caters to the needs of patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. The nurse patient ratio ranges between 1:1 and 1:2, depending on a patient's condition.

• The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery provides diagnosis, treatment and surgical procedures for patients with acquired and congenital diseases of the heart, lungs, esophagus, diaphragm and great vessels.
   
• Cardiac Rehabilitation provides a comprehensive program of physical reconditioning, nutrition counseling, and group lectures to help modify cardiac risk.

Chest Pain Accreditation

GWV is an Accredited Chest Pain Center as designated by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

This designation demonstrates Geisinger's commitment to heart care and the treatment of heart attack sufferers in the most timely manner.

Patients with heart attack symptoms are treated in the Emergency Department and have access to 24/7 primary angioplasty if necessary.
