Building on the Future
At Geisinger, we believe in delivering the most complex, compassionate care in the most convenient setting. That’s why we’ve started construction on two exciting projects to further our patient-centered care. Both are expected to be completed in about a year’s time.
New Parking Garage
We know you have enough on your mind when you come to a hospital for services or a visit. Finding parking should not be one of your worries. Our new covered parking garage will hold an additional 600 vehicles, and provide covered access directly into the new Hospital for Advanced Medicine.
Hospital for Advanced Medicine
This “hospital-within-a-hospital” will house nine stories of flexible and technology-focused space. It will connect to GMC with 50,000 square feet dedicated to diagnostic and laboratory needs, several patient units, and a new 32,000 square foot surgical suite with sophisticated robotic and interventional medical equipment.
The Hospital for Advanced Medicine will serve as an integrated center for the most critically ill and injured patients, with beds that can convert from intensive care to recovery as the patient progresses. There is room for the future—whether it’s to accommodate new medical or surgical technology, or to allow us to make innovative changes in the way we deliver care.
The Hospital for Advanced Medicine will total 308,000 square feet. That’s the size of more than five football fields. And that’s not all that’s green. The building will be environmentally friendly, with a design that features recycled materials and increases energy efficiency by maximizing window light in patient rooms and staff offices.

By the time the Hospital for Advanced Medicine is completed, an additional 200 jobs will be created.
