Geisinger’s Sports Medicine Fellowship program offers an array of educational experiences in sports medicine.

The fellow will have the opportunity to work with sports medicine clinicians who serve as team physicians for local colleges and professional teams (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneer Arena Football, Wilkes University, Misericordia University).

In addition, the fellow will serve as team physician for high schools and colleges in the Wilkes-Barre area. Our fellowship program offers unique sports medicine experiences. Here are some events for which our fellow will provide medical coverage:

• Danville- Bloomsburg Marathon
• Tour De Tykes Mountain Bike Race Weekend
• Keystone State Games
• Pennsylvania Golden Gloves Boxing
• Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins’ minor league hockey)
• Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneer Arena Football
• Wilkes-Barre Triathlon

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area is an optimum environment for outdoor sports such as mountain biking, skiing and hiking. The region offers plenty of social, recreational and athletic activities, and is a desirable area for spouses, with numerous job opportunities and family activities.
