The Emergency Medicine Residency Program of the Geisinger Health System participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). All applicants must enter the NRMP match program and submit a dean's letter, medical school transcript, national board scores and three letters of recommendation. Our website is comprehensive and contains information specific to the emergency medicine residency program. A written brochure containing general information pertinent to all Geisinger residencies is available through the residency coordinator or by calling 570-271-6812. We regret that the competitive nature of emergency medicine does not allow us to interview every qualified applicant. Interviews are granted by invitation only. We interview annually from Nov. 1 through early February. Interviews are held on Mondays and Saturdays. Most interviews will begin at 8 am. Candidates will receive an overview of the program and have the opportunity to meet with several staff physicians and residents. Lunch will be provided. Spouses and significant others may prearrange a tour of Danville led by spouses of current residents. We will provide overnight accommodations at the Pine Barn Inn for interested candidates. Danville is approximately 2.5 hours from Philadelphia, 3 hours from New York City, 3 hours from Baltimore, 4 hours from Pittsburgh, and 4 hours from Washington DC. Danville is only 3 miles from Exit 224 of Interstate 80. For those flying to Danville, driving times to airports include: Williamsport Airport - 50 minutes (occasionally gets weathered in during the winter months), Willkes-Barre-Scranton International Airport - 1 1/4 hours, Harrisburg International Airport - 1 1/2 hours, Philadelphia Airport - 2 1/2 hours, Newark Airport - 2 1/2 hours, and Baltimore-Washington International - about 3 1/2 hours (often has the best fares). We hope that you will consider our emergency medicine residency program. Our faculty promises to continually work to improve the educational training and learning environment.
