Emergency medicine is a work hard/play hard specialty. The residency program sponsors many social activities throughout the year, and residents and staff frequently get together for other joint social activities.
Examples of social activities:

There are many activities and attractions within a short distance of Danville. The residents have listed the following as some of the regional attractions that they enjoy the most:

  • Knoebel's Amusement Resort (popular family run amusement park that attracts visitors from all over the northeast and has one of the top 10 roller coasters in the country. Knoebel's is located 8 miles from Danville and has free parking and free admission.)

  • The Bloomsburg Fair (5th largest Fair in US held 8 miles from GMC)
  • Rickett's Glenn State Park (one of PA's best state parks that includes a loop trail with 40 waterfalls up to 86' high. Lake Jean provides for boating and swimming.)
  • Wine/beer tasting in Bloomsburg
  • Montage Mountain (skiing and summer outdoor concerts)
  • Danville Iron Heritage Festival (July)
  • Montour Preserve (local wildlife preserve with educational activities, lake activities and hiking)
  • Lehigh Valley Gorge (kayaking, white water rafting, and rails-to-trails riding)
  • Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania (over 45 mile rails-to-trails, West Rim Trail, canoing Pine Creek)
  • Rock climbing at Shickshinny
  • Pocono Mountains (national resort area with many ski resorts, outlet stores, and summer activites)
  • Concerts at Bryce Jordan Center on Penn State University campus (1 ¼ hours)
  • Cross country skiing at Crystal Lake Ski Area and World's End State Park
  • Montour Columbia Covered Bridge Festival (October)
  • Nationally renowned fly fishing in Fishing Creek, Benton, PA.. The largest Cabellas Outdoor store opened in 2003 in Hamburg, PA (1 hour from Danville).
  • King of Prussia Mall (Largest mall east of the Mississippi located 2 ¼ hours from Danville)

  • Bucknell University (Weis Center for the Performing Arts)
  • Susquehanna University
