Michelle Catena, MD, has received notification from the American Academy of Family Physicians that she won a 2008 Fellowship award to attend the 2008 AAFP Annual Scientific Assembly in San Diego, CA, September 17-20, 2008. This fellowship sponsored by Boeringer Ingelheim provides a family medicine resident $1,000 towards expenses to attend the largest CME event for family physicians in the USA. Dr. Catena wrote an essay of what impact this meeting might have on her and her residency upon her return from the AAFP ASA. This award encourages residents to look at lifelong learning as part of seeking quality CME after graduation from their program.  This award is one of 24 in the nation with over 10,000 residents in family medicine training.

Dr. Catena started her family medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA, Oct. 8, 2007 and practices with the Lake Scranton, Geisinger Medical Group.
