| | Continuity clinics | Continuity clinic is the cornerstone of combined Medicine/Pediatrics residency training. During your four years, you will develop a panel of both pediatric and adult patients. In the first two years of training, you will have one afternoon of continuity clinic each week. In your third and fourth years, you are able to add a second afternoon of clinic during your non-ward months. Your second afternoon of clinic can be done at your primary clinic site or at a subspecialty clinic. We are happy to offer a variety of clinic models to best suit your training needs. Geisinger Medical Group-Berwick and Geisinger Medical Group-Lewisburg are multidisciplinary clinics staffed by Internal Medicine/Pediatrics, Family Practice, OB/GYN and outreach subspecialists. The clinics are fully functional, offering lab and radiology services. The electronic medical record allows residents to maintain seamless contact with their patients, even while rotating at the hospital. As IM/Peds trained physicians staff the clinic, you will be able to see both adults and children in the same clinic session.
For those residents who wish to have clinic on the Geisinger Medical Center campus, we also offer a traditional alternating week model. Residents will see pediatric patients at Knapper Clinic and adult patients at Dickey Clinic. As the clinics are located at the main hospital, all ancillary services are readily available. Again, the electronic medical record allows residents to stay abreast of their clinic patients at all times. |
