Staff additions
  • Joel Klena, MD- A 2006 graduate of Geisinger Medial Center Orthopaedic Program, will be joining our staff in August 2007 after his fellowship in Hand & Upper Extremity at SUNY Upstate.
  • Thomas Bowen, MD- A 2006 graduate of Geisinger Medial Center Orthopaedic Program, also will be joining our staff in August 2007 after his fellowship in Orthopaedic Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Opening of Ambulatory Surgery Center

Michelle A. Smith, RN, BSN, was recently appointed the Director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Geisinger Medical Center. Smith will be responsible for operations including coordination of nursing, business office, materials management, information systems, quality management and safety for the site. She is responsible for the overall efficiency and service levels of the surgery center. Orthopaedic Surgery will began utilizing this new venue in January 2005. During this initial phase of utilization, Drs. Bush (hand surgery), Fanelli (Sports Medicine), Feldmann (Sports Medicine), Harter (General), Lillmars (Foot and Ankle), and Cush (Foot and Ankle) will be performing surgery at this site.
