September 2007
On Sept. 8, 2007, five pediatric residents and two pediatric attending physicians departed for Ukraine for a two week trip to explore the country’s medical system and provide care to children living in orphanages and those living “on the street.” The team visited orphanages in Plyzkiv, Sitkivsy, Ladyshen, Vinnystya and Kiev and provided examination and medical care to the children living in them.  The team toured Cerebral Palsy centers in Bila Tserkva and Vinnystsya and children’s hospitals in Bila Tserkva and examinations and medical care to these children.
This was an excellent experience for the residents and the attending physicians alike. This trip was arranged in cooperation with Woody Wolfe of Heart to Hand Ministries of Danville.  Woody has traveled to the Ukraine on six previous occasions and had identified areas of need in advance of the team’s visit.
