Purpose
To offer an organized and directed environment to gain professional competence, to expand clinical knowledge base, and to develop a philosophy of health system pharmacy practice

Goals
To provide the resident the practical training and experience that provides the opportunity and stimulus to develop, to the highest degree attainable, professional expertise and competence as a health system pharmacy practitioner

• To provide a foundation for, and to stimulate an interest in, the achievement of a leadership role in the profession
• To support the attainment of professional self-realization
• To train competent and innovative practitioners who can provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care services across the continuum of health care
• To train practitioners who can develop and implement drug policies that ensure rational, cost-effective drug therapy

The Pharmacy Practice Residency at Geisinger Medical Center believes strongly in the development of the complete pharmacist. As such, the resident is treated in a collegial manner, with careful focus on developing the broadest possible clinical range of skills, as well as personal growth.

Our goal is to provide a resident with the practical training and experience that provides the opportunity and stimulus to develop professional expertise and competence as a health system pharmacy practitioner.
