Call provides an excellent opportunity for real life learning experiences and enhances skills for independent decisions.
First year residents participate in "Rookie Call" the first 12 months, staying until 9 p.m. one night per week and one weekend day per month in-house paired with a more experienced resident. All residents participate in call. First-year residents complete full four-week rotations in major areas before taking solo call.
Short call hours:
5 pm - 9:30 pm weekdays
Night float hours:
9 pm - 7:30 am, Monday through Thursday 9 pm - 8 am, Friday and Saturday
Weekend day:
8 am - 9:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday
Sunday night:
9 pm - 7:30 am
An attending is in-house until 10 pm every day, including holidays and weekends. There is attending back-up for the resident everyday from 10 pm to 7:30 am. In addition, a neuroradiologist, interventional radiologist and a nuclear medicine radiologist are on call.
