Geisinger Medical Center Food Service Management Team

GHS Food Service Team

Bruce Thomas, MBA, VP, Guest Services
Bruce has a Bachelors of Science degree in Food Service and Housing Administration from Penn State University and a Master's of Business Administration from Bloomsburg University.  Bruce also came to Geisinger with extensive restaurant management experience.  He was the Director of Foodservices for a number of years. In his current position, he is responsible for Foodservices, Environmental Services, Patient Transport, Digital Print and Mail Center, Mailroom, Business Travel, Conference Center, and the Pine Barn Inn. He is a past recipient of the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) Silver Plate Award.

Steve Cerullo, Senior Director, Foodservices
Steve is a graduate of the Penn State Hotel/Restaurant Institutional Management program. He worked in a variety of management positions for Marriott Corporation throughout the United States and was the General Manager for a local golf course. He also owned and operated his own Italian restaurant. Steve also serves on the Advisory Committee for Premier and is an active member of Healthcare Foodservice Management (HFM); he is a past Premier Illuminating Excellence Finalist and HFM Future Horizon Award recipient.
Steve manages all aspects of the department and oversees the Food Service Management week rotation at Geisinger Medical Center.  

Rick Slear, Director, Culinary Services
Rick has two Associate degrees in Business Travel and Business Management from Central Pennsylvania Business School and Susquehanna University. He worked for 21 years in Food Services at Bucknell University including holding such positions as Supervisor, Assistant Director of Human Resources and Director of Food Services. Rick oversees the production rotation and works closely with retail, catering and patient food services at Geisinger Medical Center.

Janet Merluzzi, Manager, Retail Food Service
Janet coordinates the retail food service rotations at Geisinger Medical Center. Janet attended Schenectady College of Culinary Arts where she received her Associate Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Since that time she has managed her own private catering service and worked as Bloomsburg University's assistant director of food service. She currently manages Geisinger's employee cafeterias, food vendor kiosks, and the hospital coffee shop. Janet is a past recipient of the Geisinger Service Award.

Theresa Kevak, MS, RD, LDN, Manager, Patient Food Service
Theresa coordinates the patient food service rotation at Geisinger Medical Center. Theresa graduated from College Miserecordia with a BS in Foods and Nutrition; she obtained her Masters from Marywood University. Theresa has held a variety of positions including Therapeutic Dietitian and Manager, Food Service. She also has done consulting work for a nursing home and area hospital. Theresa served as a preceptor for Marywood University dietetic students for over 20 years.

Jennifer Golomb, Catering Manager
Jennifer graduated from Luzerne County Community College with an Associate's degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management. She previously worked as a Catering Manager in Lewisburg, PA and as an Assistant Manager in Food Services at Penn State. Jennifer is responsible for catering functions on the Danville campus and in the North Central region.

Diane Harlow, Manager, Geisinger Health System Wellness Program
Diane also coordinates the Wellness rotation. Diane graduated with a BS degree in Dietetics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed an M. Ed. degree in Health Care Focus from Penn State University. Her past positions include Clinical Dietitian for outpatient cardiac service line for Wellspan Health. She is an adjunct instructor for Nutrition 251 at Penn State.

Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center Food Service Management Team

Lynne Brown, Senior Director, Foodservices, Northeast Region
Lynne is a graduate of the Luzerne County Community College Culinary Arts program. Her previous work experience includes positions for Marriott Healthcare Division, and Assistant Director and Director for Foodservices at Mercy Hospital South Wilkes-Barre with Metz & Associates. She has been in foodservices all her life as her parents were owner/operators of a pizza shop in Northeast PA. Lynne is an active member of Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF). Lynne directs the overall activities of Foodservice Departments in the Northeast region, including Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Geisinger Community Medical Center, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, Geisinger Mountain View Continued Care and Geisinger's drug and alcohol treatment center at Marworth; she oversees the Food Service Management week rotation at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. 

Kenneth Acornley, Foodservices Manager
Kenneth is certified in Fitness and Nutrition and in ServSafe. He worked for over 20 years in Food Services at Mercy Hospital in South Wilkes-Barre, PA. Kenneth ensures the development and coordination of all recipes, menus, and culinary production for Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Foodservices. He oversees the production rotation at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

Brian Dixson, Retail Foodservices Manager
Brian coordinates the retail food service rotations at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. Brian completed his BS degree in Culinary Arts at the Pennsylvania College of Technology and his MBA at Bloomsburg University. Brian started his foodservice career as a Line Chef for a restaurant and then worked as a Cook and Special Functions Coordinator at Geisinger Medical Center. He currently manages the retail foodservice operations including cafeterias, kiosks, and catering for Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Mary Ruzzi, RD, LDN, CDM, CFFP, Patient Foodservices Manager, Geisinger Northeast
Mary coordinates the patient food service rotation at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. Mary graduated from the University of Scranton with a BS in Counseling and Human Services and from the Virginia State University with a BS in Dietetics; she completed her internship through the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College. Her prior work experience includes: WIC Nutritionist with Richmond City Health District and Clinical Dietitian at Geisinger Medical Center. Mary manages patient foodservice operations for the Northeast campuses including Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Geisinger Community Medical Center, and Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. She holds professional memberships in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Association of Food & Nutrition Professionals (ANFP), and the Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF).

Becca Crotti, RD, Healthy Selections Coordinator, Geisinger Health System
Becca graduated from West Chester University with a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics and completed a dietetic internship at Geisinger. She worked briefly as a Nutrition Consultant for the Pine Barn Inn in Danville. In her current position, Becca oversees all nutrition information for systemwide Foodservices including Retail, Catering, and Production. She is a member of the Food and Culinary Professional Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Premier Clinical Nutrition Subcommittee, and Pennsylvania Sustainable Agriculture (PASA). Becca coordinates the Healthy Selections rotation at both Geisinger Medical Center and Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
