Since its inception in 1915, Geisinger Health System has had an unwavering commitment to medical education. We proudly continue our legacy of patient-centered care and academic excellence (Medical Student Compact). Today, Geisinger Health System serves as the clinical campus of Temple University School of Medicine and The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. | | Although these schools serve as the primary affiliates, Geisinger welcomes more than 300 students each year from 25 different states. Affiliated students have the opportunity to complete third-year core clerkships in all major specialties at the Geisinger Health System. Geisinger also offers opportunities in more than 40 clinical electives. | Core clerkships | | | Clinical campus students complete the majority of their clinical clerkships throughout Geisinger Health System. The Danville campus includes the 388-bed Geisinger Medical Center, the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, the region’s only Fertility Center, Geisinger Heart Institute, Geisinger Neuroscience Institute and most recently the Center for Health Research. The campus is also undergoing a $100 million expansion including the new Center for Advanced Medicine. Geisinger Wyoming Valley, located in Wilkes-Barre, PA, includes the Pearsall Heart Hospital and Henry Cancer Center. A wide variety of electives and subinternships are available for both affiliated and visiting medical students. | Location
