To study and learn, consistent with the guidelines outlined by Geisinger Health Plan and the student’s university, the various aspects of Actuarial Informatics and Underwriting.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Internship will involve basic programming, database assistance, and report design for the AU and Operational reporting pods within A.I. Internship will also require the involvement in the rating process and premium financial report preparation performed by Underwriting. Assist Actuarial Analysts with routine and basic ad-hoc report production: run established SQL reports on a routine basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly);validation of reports being created and/or redesigned; schedule and/or update parameters on existing Crystal Reports; run ad-hoc reporting having established criteria to build from. Assist Underwriting with the compilation of information for specific employer group or Health Plan reporting needs. Observe and participate in account reviews and/or conference calls with consultants, brokers, clients, and underwriting. Learn how Geisinger Health Plan’s information is stored and how to extract operational information from the data warehouse and mainframe system. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Demonstrated database and spreadsheet software proficiency. Demonstrated organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail. Demonstrated self-motivation and self-sufficiency. Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral directions. Candidate should currently be attending an accredited college as a junior or senior. Major Duties & Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1)Coordinate the activities of each of the teams and their subgroups to gather current documentation on each of the control processes.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
Three full-time positions are available supporting Geisinger Financial Managers. All positions are on the Danville GMC campus. The positions will serve the primary areas of Surgery, Ophthalmology, Anesthesia and other service lines as required. Candidates will be responsible to create and narrate business plans and pro forma statements. The student will prepare budget information and will be responsible for the preparation of the FY11 scorecard. Assisting Finance Managers with analysis for position justification and lease vs. buy. Additionally, the student will assist in auditing gross charges, identifying opportunities with revenue reports, and ensuring compliance. Geisinger’s team environment will provide an opportunity to learn enhanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills, utilize financial systems (ERP), and develop skills necessary for a career in finance and accounting/business. Students will be required to make presentations to the team and to management. Other expectations for the internship include problem solving and applying fixes to processes and providing analysis for ad hoc requests. The Geisinger System Services Internship program is designed to provide students attending institutions of higher learning an opportunity to learn about Foodservices in a Healthcare Environment while fulfilling academic requirements and learning about possible career choices in the world of healthcare.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Interns will work directly with professional managers and supervisors in various departments in foodservices with emphasis in the kitchen and retail operations.  Some work will also be done in providing foodservices to various patients in our acute care hospital.  There will be emphasis on computerized forecasting, menu planning, production, purchasing and point of sale systems.  Projects, other than the ones required by the university, will be given during the rotation through the departments. The Food Production Manager for GWV, and GSWB and the Manager of Environmental and Food Services at Marworth will be the immediate supervisors of the Intern.  The Intern will have daily meetings where feedback on prior day’s events and upcoming events will be discussed.  Also the Intern will be present at several other meetings including interdepartmental, departmental, production, & Management meetings.  The Intern will spend time with an assigned department supervisor/lead in the various departments during that rotation.
