clinical Data Intern: Clinical Decision Information systems (CDIS)

Position Summary
Internship with the CDIS Analytic Team for undergraduate students pursuing a degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or related field.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
The CDIS intern is responsible for assisting with analytic and technical tasks related to data analysis, project completion, report analysis and development. The intern will gain valuable experience managing and improving upon existing reports by using dashboarding skills and by helping to develop methods to share information with the customers (both internal & external). Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Developing a strong understanding of the applications, processes and source systems involved in creating and maintaining specific detail-oriented reports from assigned systems.
• Providing documentation (such as report specifications and data dictionaries) of all reports developed as assigned or requested.
• Gauging the effectiveness and efficiency of existing reports and reporting systems.
• Developing and implementing strategies for improving or further leveraging these reports and reporting systems.
• Performing other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
This position is open to undergraduates majoring in computer science, mathematics, statistics or related field, who have completed a minimum of 24 credits. Knowledge of SQL, Business Objects Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Xcelsius & other dashboards, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access is required.
Special Requirements & Additional Information
Minimum GPA of 3.0 required. This will be a paid internship, with the option to pursue academic credit where applicable.

Position Summary
Internship for undergraduate students studying business, finance or a related field, supporting projects and operations for Geisinger Workforce Management (WFM).
Major Duties & Responsibilities
This is an internship opportunity to learn about Workforce Management, specifically as it relates to employee scheduling and implementation of a Time and Attendance system.  The Intern will gain knowledge of scheduling, relationship of scheduling to budget, productivity (based on budget), development of a Time and Attendance System (using badge readers/time clocks), policy development, labor law, security maintenance in an IT system and large database manipulation using Microsoft Office products (Excel and Access). In addition, the Intern will be involved with assuring that the department Web page reflects the progress of the project. Organizational initiatives will also be included such as documentation support and department policy reviews. 
Qualifications
This position requires a detail-oriented individual with multi-tasking abilities who can work independently and as a team member. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Access/Word) is preferred.
Special Requirements & Additional Information
Open to business administration, finance IT or human resource majors who have completed at least two years (75 credits) of full-time academic study. Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.

Position Summary
Internship position with the Interventional Pain Center for undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Psychology, Nursing, Biology or Pre Med or other health-related field. This intern provides research assistance and support for special projects within the department. A minimum of 8-12 hours a week required.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist in writing of  research proposals to measure outcomes for patients
• Assist with data collection and analysis / data management
• Assist with publication and posters and any other duties research team may assign
Qualifications
Preferred majors include psychology, nursing, biology and pre-med. Requires good communication and computer skills (including knowledge of Power point, Excel, and MS word). Student must be self-directed, show knowledge of research methods and statistics. Knowledge of how to conduct research proposals and prepare publications is preferred.
Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

Supports fundamental process engineering work for GMC Surgical Services and Anesthesia through detailed data collection and analyses. Partners with the Operations Engineer, Surgical Services and works in close cooperation with front line clinical staff and clinical and operational leaders within the Divisions of Surgery and Anesthesia.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Works with Surgical Services to accelerate operational analyses and improvement initiatives. Develops work plans and manages the work to meet milestones through task management and consistent follow through. Documents work products and methodologies to enable knowledge transfer across Geisinger Health System. Partners with front line teams and assists with implementation of operational changes according to project plans. Major Duties & Responsibilities
The GHP Web Development intern is responsible for assisting with analytic and technical tasks related to web development and web content management. The intern will gain valuable experience developing web content for the health insurance industry. Duties include, but are not limited to: Assist with the implementation of Web Content within a Content Management System. Assist with the testing of new web content. Evaluate and Document existing web content and it's compliance with usability standards. Work with developers to enhance functionality available to GHP's customers. Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Open to students majoring in computer science, information systems, or related field, who have completed a minimum of 4 semesters of study.  Experience in web technologies such as HTML, CSS and Javascript required.  SQL experience a plus.
