BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (B01)
Position: Ventures & Technology Commercialization Intern
The Geisinger Ventures Venture & Technology Commercialization Summer Internship provides students with an opportunity to learn about technology commercialization in a nationally recognized healthcare environment. The internship introduces students to the business side of transferring inventions from the lab to the marketplace. Paid summer internships enable students to combine their science background with training and experience in the field of technology commercialization – a complex business of intellectual property, technology valuation, patenting, marketing, licensing, and policy. A special field emphasis will be placed on medical device, medical diagnostics, drug discovery, biomarkers, genomics, proteomics, biotechnology, chemical or mechanical engineering, cell and molecular biology, information technology, healthcare or other scientific and technology areas for which Geisinger is protecting intellectual property with patent filings. A special business emphasis will be placed on individuals able to build market research cases based on complex scientific and technical principals for technology marketing. Reports to Director of Geisinger Ventures. Works directly with the Director, CEO of Geisinger Ventures and support staff to focus on screening and evaluating technology disclosures to help determine the invention’s commercialization potential.
Background should be ideally an MBA student or other masters level student or graduated MBA/masters student with experience in one or more fields of technology commercialization including technology, intellectual property, business development and marketing. Will also consider highly qualified undergraduate student with significant experience.

AUDITOR ASSISTANT (B12)

Review or assist in reviewing: financial and operating information; systems established to assure compliance; means of safeguarding and verifying assets; operations or programs. Identify or assist in identifying key control points of assigned areas. Obtain, analyze, and appraise data and information, or assist in these procedures. Prepare or assist in preparing work papers. Make or assist in making oral or written presentations and/or reports. Maintain appropriate confidentiality for all information accessed and discloses no information without prior permission from VP of Internal Audits. Complies with all Geisinger Health System policies. Carries out administrative duties necessary to the operation of the Internal Audit Department. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Completed at least two years of college curriculum in the areas of Accounting or Finance, and familiar with Microsoft applications.

Position: Inventory Assistant Intern
The Supply Chain Department provides quality supplies, goods, equipment and services with emphasis on customer satisfaction while maintaining cost-effectiveness, professionalism and service excellence. Job duties and services include negotiations and contracting, purchasing of supplies, equipment and services, inventory management, warehousing, receiving, equipment management, information systems, linen, mail and patient transport.

MARKETING ASSISTANT (B57)

Position: Conference Center Intern
The Henry Hood Center for Health Research is home to a state-of-the-art conference center. Meeting rooms include a 300 seat auditorium, Multipurpose Room, Intermediate Conference Rooms and a Focus Group Room.
Schedules reservations for all Center ground floor conference rooms, auditorium, break out areas, and multipurpose rooms. Assists manager with all logistics of the ground floor conference area to include catering, flow of meetings, breakouts, AV setups, IT needs, etc. Assists in creating special activities and developing and coordinating program details at the Conference Center and performs other duties as required or assigned to accommodate the smooth access and flow of events for the Center Conference Center.
Actively pursuing degree in hospitality management or business/marketing. Demonstrates ability to plan events, experience with software (word-processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheet/database), ability to work with and troubleshoot AV equipment; demonstrates interpersonal skills, including customer service experience and guest relations, strong problem solving and organizational skills; demonstrates ability to coordinate and be accountable for multiple tasks, adhere to change and work well under pressure in a fast paced environment.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT (B60)

The intern will assist business planning and research analyst in a variety of projects including primary and secondary market research, geographic information software (GIS) projects, data manipulation and special projects.
Not necessarily major field of study, however intern should have an interest in healthcare with a business emphasis (e.g. finance, marketing, etc). Efficiency using Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), familiarity with Access.

DATA ENTRY ASSISTANT (C31)
Department: Research –Human Research Protection Program
Position: IRB Coordinator
An institutional review board (IRB), also known as an independent ethics committee (IEC) or ethical review board (ERB) is a committee that has been formally designated to approve, monitor, and review biomedical and behavioral research involving humans with the aim to protect the rights and welfare of the research subjects. In the United States, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and HHS, specifically OHRP, regulations have empowered IRBs to improve, require modifications in (to secure approval), or disapprove research. An IRB performs critical oversight functions for research conducted on human subjects that are scientific, ethical and regulatory.
Review submitted documents for accuracy and completeness per IRB regulations; assist in training initiatives and educational activities to provide IRB perspective as needed; data management activities; attending Committee meetings; help develop software training materials and assist with coordination of the software roll-out; maintenance of protocol records; conducts data collection activities including data entry and assist in reformatting and editing policies and web page.
Basic computer skills, requires knowledge of office equipment (printer, fax machine, scanner and copier; ability to communicate effectively and the ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Pleasant demeanor.
FOOD SERVICE ASSISTANT (F01)
Position: Foodservices Intern
The foodservices internship program is designed to provide students attending institutions of higher learning an opportunity to learn about foodservices in a healthcare setting. The Foodservices department in Danville staffs approximately 132 FTEs and is responsible for 1000 patient meals daily, 9 retail outlets and a full service catering department. The intern will work directly with Managers and supervisors in all departments with an emphasis in the kitchen and retail locations.
Students must be enrolled in a foodservice focused major. Some prior foodservices experience required.
SOCIAL SERVICES ASSISTANT (H32)

Position: Pharmacy Technician Assistant
Inpatient, Decentralized Hospital Pharmacy Operation with specialty areas in Peds, OR, Hem/Onc. Individual will function as an assistant to the pharmacy technician and pharmacist.
Previous pharmacy experience helpful, but not necessary. We are interested in working with students who either have an interest in pursuing a pharmacy degree or those who are actually enrolled in a program and wish to broaden their experience.
OPTOMETRY ASSISTANT (M81)
Position: Opthalmology Technician Trainee
Responsibilities to include: assist and observe screening for visual acuity, assist patient flow, assist low vision patients, take specimens to lab.
Ability to read and write, basic life saving course, able to work directly with patients. Maintain patient confidentiality, HIPAA training.
CLINICAL RECORDS ASSISTANT (M84)

The Center for Clinical Studies promotes and facilitates clinical trials research in collaboration with clinician-investigators throughout Geisinger Health System. The successful candidate will perform activities to support administrative staff, Clinical Research Coordinators and/or Project Managers with the management of clinical trials. RESEARCH ASSISTANT (S05)

The Center for Health Research (CHR) is the dynamic research and development division for Geisinger. We have a strong interest in research that improves patient outcomes and focus on rapidly translating research to practice. The successful candidate will perform selected activities for research projects (including subject recruitment, data entry and data collection activities guided by written protocols) under the supervision of various investigators and assigned manager. This individual will support the goals and objectives of the system in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Assists in day-to-day project activities such as word processing, study documentation, attends study meetings, etc. Conducts data entry and updates computer files used for project monitoring and data collection, as well as assisting in data collection activities including subject recruitment, contact and follow-up. Follows study protocols to determine subject eligibility, including conducting medical record review.
Basic computer skills, knowledge of basic research methodology and research data collection. Excellent written and oral communications needed. Students should be pursing a degree in life science, mathematics, computer science or engineering. Those who have completed four semesters will be given preference.
FOUNDATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT (Y36)
Position: Prospect Research Assistant
The Development Office secures philanthropic support for Geisinger Health System. The Prospect Research Assistant will help the Prospect Researcher identify new Major Gift ($25,000+) prospects and use public records to determine their giving capacity. The ideal candidate would have a business/marketing background and an inquisitive mind.
Basic Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency. High level of responsibility dealing with confidential information (e.g. giving histories).
