COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATOR INTERN

JOB SUMMARY
This internship will provide experience with program development and implementation throughout the surrounding communities.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
During this internship, the student will learn how to:
Coordinate and conduct educational sessions related to health topics and physical fitness as requested and approved by Chairman of Pediatrics. 
Communicate resource needs, issues, project status and milestones met to Vice President of Pediatrics and project manager. 
Prepare final reports and PowerPoint presentations. 
Handle sensitive project issues and provide resolution in conjunction with pediatric staff.
Provide support and clinical expertise for intervention initiatives within specified projects.
Facilitate and implement community and school level health related events. 
Assist with grant writing and research.
Program development
Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrates excellent communication, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills, and a high regard for confidentiality.
Demonstrates enthusiasm, flexibility and ability to maintain a professional appearance and be a team player.
Demonstrates basic personal computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Demonstrates ability to work well with children.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Preferred majors include: Health Care oriented majors, Communication, Nursing.
Students must work well with children and be flexible.
This position is available to both undergraduate and graduate applicants.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent travel required. Some use of personal vehicle required. Some evening and weekend programs/events are scheduled.

HOUSE OF CARE ADMIN INTERN (12218)

JOB SUMMARY
Geisinger’s House of Care provides low-cost, convenient and comfortable lodging for adult patients with cancer and one family member. Guest stays can range from one night, to keep an early morning appointment at Geisinger Medical Center, to several weeks, while undergoing extensive treatment. At the House of Care, we believe in the therapeutic value of community and social interaction. We emphasize this through the variety of shared living spaces at the House. 
This internship will provide an opportunity for the intern to learn how to interact with numerous types of people which will be invaluable for all of life. The intern will also be responsible for a project relating to his/her major and learn how to manage, execute, etc. a project of significant magnitude.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The summer intern will work at the House of Care registration desk answering the phone and assisting with guest registration. The intern will also assist with basic tasks to help run the daily operations of the House.
The intern will learn how to interact with the patients and families from all walks of life.
The intern will learn how to manage a project that relates specifically to his/her major.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Developed people skills, creativity, and willingness to be flexible and learn.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Preferred Majors: Psychology, Sociology, Communications, Marketing, and Management. Other experience working with older adults is useful.
