The purpose of the internship in the Children's Miracle Network at Geisinger office is to provide a valid experience in fundraising and community and public relations.

♦ Create a task analysis for each task related to each job available at GMC for the student with disabilities; create any other needed supports (e.g., signs, folder activities, mock activities, etc.)
♦ Document work (journal) with one or two students from the high school to train them on sequences or tasks of each job available at GMC for the student with disabilities in both the Hackey House and GMC settings
♦ Provide plans which describe scaffolded supports provided for each student as they train for each job available at GMC for the student with disabilities; this will include scaffolded supports which will be faded/withdrawn as soon as the student is able to successfully attend to the job independently
♦ Document and provide progress monitoring and overall assessment (pre/post) of the progress of each student for each job available at GMC for the student with disabilities
♦ Maintain a log of his or her work with the internship coordinator from Geisinger on any other tasks that are deemed appropriate for the transition of the student with disabilities to an independent employee within the community

The Keystone Beacon Project is a federal initiative to increase community wide patient engagement using information technology. This is an internship position within the Community Affairs & Clinical Services Programming Department under the Community Engagement Manager. This internship will give an all around Administrative program experience, with a focus on a health information technology project. Student will be looking into a current health information management tool and through best practices providing guidance for more successful integration for patients.
The Keystone Beacon Community is a network of doctors, nurses, hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare professionals working together to give patients the best, most convenient care in Central Pennsylvania. The Keystone Beacon Project also educates and encourages patients to become more engaged in their healthcare.
The students will receive up to date knowledge of the newest technological advances for Health information Technology, especially with the use of an online patient portal.
The student will research current methods and processes that hospitals are evaluating online health tools and the best practices identified to implement in the Keystone Beacon Community.

The student will identify through thorough research current programs in hospitals in the United States, and perhaps internationally, to create and implement an evaluation tool to improve practices in the Spiritual Care Department.
The student will take the best practices identified from research and use them, as well as an understanding of the local population, to best implement an evaluation tool for the Department of Spiritual Care. The student will then perform outreach and administer the evaluation. They will also create reports or summaries of findings based on responses, both qualitative and quantitative, to improve the department’s approaches.
The student will interact with patients, chaplains, and families to understand the importance of religious efforts in relation to the end of life and the healing process.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Students should have strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, as well as an understanding of statistics.
Experience with creation, administration and evaluation of surveys through numerous outreach methods.
Students should be familiar with end of life care, show empathy, and understand the importance of religious studies in relation to health care.

This internship offers direct care experience with frail elders within a clinical day care setting. A wide range of physical and cognitive diagnosis including strokes, amputation, dementia and psychological disorders will be addressed. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan & facilitate therapeutic recreational activities.

Perform therapy assessments and care planning.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interns placed with the Information Technology (IT) Department of the Geisinger Health System will work under the supervision of a Staff Analyst on Geisinger Health Plan IT Team. Listed below are tasks, which we expect an Intern will have the opportunity to complete. However, it must be noted here that the opportunity to perform a given task like “upgrade host-based applications software” will not occur unless an upgrade is received from one of our vendors during the course of the internship.
1. Install and perform upgrades to standard desktop software.
2. Reformat PCs and reinstall operating system and required software.
3. Assist with installation of new systems and peripherals primarily PC Workstations, printers, and print directors.
4. Install client software on PC Workstation.
5. Install Novell, NT and Citrix client software.
6. Use Microsoft Active Directory for software deployment and managed printers.
7. Gain an understanding of Remedy, the automated problem and order tracking system.
8. Assist analyst with upgrade to host-based applications software.
9. Support the relocation of users by ensuring all computer equipment is fully operational following move.
10. Observe and obtain an overview of applications and other technology areas within Geisinger Health Plan IT specifically Core Systems, Support Systems, and Web Development.
