From Perioperative to PACU, OR nurses provide a safe, sterile environment, and coordinate care across the disciplines that will continue patient care following surgery.
Playing the role of patient advocate for pain management and personal needs is an important aspect of surgical care.
Surgical nurses provide care in many different type of settings from a traditional OR setting to same-day surgeries.
Operating Room - Inpatient and Outpatient
- Number of Beds: 5 operating rooms and 1 endoscopy suite
- Type of Patients: orthopedic surgery, general surgery, vascular surgery, neuro surgery, gynecological surgery
- Clinical make-up: RNs, LPNs, nurse aids, and technicians
- Shift availability: 8-hours, 12-hours
- Programs/Councils unique to unit: Career Enhancement Roles including Performance Improvement Liaison, Educational Liaison, Clinical Coordinator and Mentor
Same Day Surgery
- Number of Beds: 18 beds, 1 minor treatment room
- Type of Patients: post anesthesia care
- Clinical make-up: RNs, and nurse aides
- Shift availability: 8-hours, 12-hours
- Programs/Councils unique to unit: Career Enhancement Roles including Performance Improvement Liaison, Educational Liaison, Clinical Coordinator and Mentor; Nursing Practice Council
Post Anesthesia Care Unit
- Number of Beds: 6 bed holding area
- Type of Patients: post anesthesia care
- Clinical make-up: RNs
- Shift availability: 8-hours, 12-hours
- Programs/Councils unique to unit: Career Enhancement Roles including Performance Improvement Liaison, Educational Liaison, Clinical Coordinator and Mentor; Nursing Practice Council
