
Geisinger Ventures is helps to develop new medical devices by working with industry and nationally recognized universities. Clinical areas include cardiology, cell biology, computational modeling, critical care, emergency medicine, genetics, neonatology, neurology, neurosurgery, obesity, orthopedics, pharmaceutical formulation, pharmaceutical research, proteomics, radiology, trauma, urology, and vascular surgery among other areas.
Specific Geisinger Ventures activities
Medical device fellowships - we work with sponsoring clinics to provide fellowships to recent PhD graduates and post-doctoral candidates. The fellow has opportunities to:
- Work in cross-functional groups, including clinical, engineering, and business
- Engage in industry collaborations
- Utilize Geisinger’s existing relationships with medical device firms supported by industry funding
- Pursue publications in relevant engineering, scientific and medical journals
- Undertake grant funded research efforts
Internships and externships - support students and recent graduates of undergraduate and master’s level biomedical, chemical, mechanical, electrical, computational and related programs.
Business planning - provide support for clinical effectiveness studies, outcomes studies, business plan analysis, marketing analysis, prototyping, patent research and filing, licensing and royalty agreements, consulting, and FDA review projects.
Bucknell University - Geisinger works closely with Bucknell University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering.
