Geisinger earns high national ranking

Feb. 4, DANVILLE - Geisinger Health System has earned a prominent national ranking in the 2006 Verispan IHN 100, the ninth edition of Verispan’s annual assessment of the 100 most highly integrated healthcare networks (IHNs). Verispan’s report, regarded as the nation’s premier rating system, evaluates IHNs on their performance and degree of integration.
 
The rankings are based on a comprehensive system which evaluates each network’s ability to operate as a unified organization in each of eight categories: integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, services and access, hospital utilization, and physicians.
 
Geisinger is listed at number 26 in the national 2006 Verispan IHN Top 100 list.  Verispan also ranks Geisinger at number three in a separate list highlighting the top 20 IHNs in the northeast region of the USA.  Geisinger is rated above other highly regarded institutions on the regional top 20 list, including University of Pennsylvania Health System, Yale New Haven Health System, St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network (Bethlehem, PA), MaineHealth and Baystate Health System.
