Geisinger Wyoming Valley earns full Chest Pain Center Accreditation
Feb. 11, 2006 - Geisinger Wyoming Valley has been granted the designation of Accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. The Accreditation Review Committee granted Geisinger Wyoming Valley full accreditation, making it the second in Pennsylvania and the 210th in the nation with this designation.
Geisinger earns high national ranking for integration from Verispan
Feb. 4, 2006 - Geisinger Health System has earned a prominent national ranking in the 2006 Verispan IHN 100, the ninth edition of Verispan’s annual assessment of the 100 most highly integrated healthcare networks (IHNs). Verispan’s report, regarded as the nation’s premier rating system, evaluates IHNs on their performance and degree of integration.

Geisinger to receive EI&CM Award
April 24 - The Association for Information and Imaging Management (AIIM) organization will award its 2006 Best Practices Award for the EI&CM team’s use of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) technologies in healthcare to Geisinger Health System. This is the highest honor awarded in the ECM industry and Geisinger is the first organization ever to win the Best Practices Award two out of three years. Geisinger won this award previously in 2004.

Geisinger named a most-wired hospital & health system for the second time
2004 —The Geisinger Health System has again been named one of the nation’s 100 Most Wired hospitals and health systems. The fourth annual survey and benchmarking study is awarded to technically savvy hospitals by Hospitals & Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association, in cooperation with McKesson Information Solutions, Qwest Communications International, and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. The survey and benchmarking study measures the nation’s health care systems on their use of Internet technologies to connect with patients, physicians and nurses, payors, health plans and employees. This is the second time Geisinger has been named to the list.

Geisinger receives National Recognition for Information Technology
Geisinger Health System has earned a prominent place on this year’s national list of “100 Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems,” published by Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN) magazine. The annual list is based on surveys, benchmarking studies and a detailed scoring process focusing on quality and patient safety, public health, customer service, business processes and workforce. For this year’s honor roll, the top 100 most wired hospitals and health systems were selected from 1,217 hospitals representing approximately 20 percent of all U.S. hospitals.
