The Geisinger Cardiovascular Center for Clinical Research provides high quality research programs throughout Geisinger hospitals and clinics:
- Industry-sponsored drug and device trials
- Investigator-initiated studies
- Federally or Geisinger funded projects
Under the direction of Peter Berger, MD, an interventional cardiologist, chairman of Geisinger's Division of Cardiology and director of the GCCC, the center also designs and implement cardiology quality improvement (QI) initiatives and offers clinical education resources for cardiology fellows, residents and interested faculty.
Its mission is to plan, conduct, foster, and support innovative clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to help advance the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease and improve patient care. The CCCR is committed to accomplishing this mission while simultaneously ensuring that research studies are compliant with relevant legal, institutional federal and international regulations. Moreover, Geisinger has a long-standing commitment to rigorous and uncompromising standards of safety and protection of research subjects.
