The goal of this symposium was to bring farmers, scientists and the public together for community-wide discussions of the complex issues facing agriculture and the Susquehanna River. The presentations and discussions were designed to deepen our understanding, stimulate new insights, and provide direction for the future.
Pennsylvania Abandoned Mine Drainage Remediation: Seeking Common Ground Along the Susquehanna

The Susquehanna River Symposium brought people together in an attempt to seek common ground on the topic of Abandoned Mine Drainage. The goals of the symposium were many and included: providing overviews, scientific and technical presentations of mine drainage and remediation, presenting personal perspectives from landowners and watershed groups and lastly, opening communication lines among landowners, citizens, scientists and industry.

The Susquehanna River Symposium created discussion, showcased and promoted information and initiatives to improve the health of the Susquehanna River basin and its surrounding communities. Presentations and discussions from local universities, government agencies and non-profit organizations took place informing participants as well as fostering relationships and collaborations between all parties present.
