Pediatric & Adolescent Obesity

Summary

pediatric obesityNational estimates regarding the health impact of pediatric obesity are staggering. Pediatric Obesity Prevention and Treatment Research in the Geisigner Health System involves the Janet Weis Children's Hospital, Pediatrics, the Center for Clinical Innovations, the Obesity Institute, eHealth, Strategic Industry Partnerships, the Genomics Institute, the Environmental Health Institute, and the Center for Health Research.

Our research focuses on the molecular, social and behavioral causes, and supports our work with community partners, schools, and parents to prevent and reduce childhood obesity. We are re-engineering care to improve screening and education, training physicians to talk with families about prevention, and promoting healthy choices via mobile technologies and eHealth.
