Hood Center Internships

The Henry Hood Center for Health Research Internship Opportunities

The Henry Hood Center for Health Research, which includes the Geisinger Center for Health Research and the Geisinger Center for Clinical Studies, offers paid and unpaid internship positions to undergraduate and graduate students. Internship award opportunities with the Hood Center are diverse, falling across a wide range of disciplines and academic interests.

Undergraduates have held positions with Geisinger's Obesity Institute monitoring childhood obesity as well as been involved with the Electronic Migraine Project or MyCode™ Community Health Initiative, a biobank linking genetic sequencing with the electronic medical record to improve patient care.. Graduate internships focus on a specific area of research expertise. For instance, Geisinger's Biostatistics and Research Data Core offers one annual position to students earning an MPH, MHA, or an MS in biostatistics.

All interns are offered career development services, including mock interviews and a resume clinic, panel discussions, and skill-developing workshops. The program concludes with a final symposium where students present an oral report about their internship accomplishments and experience.

All Henry Hood Center research internship positions are posted by the Geisinger Internship Office, where students can also find application requirements and forms, deadlines, and further information. click to see examples of Hood Center intern projects.
