The Center for Health Research offers Survey Support through the Survey Research Unit. The Survey Research Unit combines state-of-the-art technology and highly trained interviewers to provide cutting-edge data collection.
The unit offers a full service facility including 18 trained professional staff, 12 computerized workstations, a focus group room, computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI), computer assisted in-home interviews (CAPI), and printed mail surveys.
To ensure the highest quality of data collection, Survey Unit interviewers complete a comprehensive training program including courses required by the Geisinger Institutional Review Board (IRB). In addition, the survey calling projects are monitored by unit management staff and performance statistics are evaluated daily.
Services Offered
Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) Survey staff conduct large and small-scale phone surveys targeting populations anywhere in the U.S. The CATI system accommodates complex skip patterns in questionnaires, permitting you to tailor surveys to individual subjects. Trained interviewers are available to place calls from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday (EST). Data can be exported in several formats, including Microsoft Excel, SPSS, and SAS.
Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) The Survey Unit can function as an appointment setting or screening tool. CAPI interviewing allows you to utilize CATI’s scripting system in a portable fashion.
Focus Groups Survey Unit staff can recruit and schedule participants. The state-of-the-art focus group room at the Henry Hood Center for Health Research is handicapped accessible and sound-proof. It includes an observation room with audio and video recording capabilities.
Mail Surveys Survey Staff can compile and process mail surveys. Scanform technology is used to streamline projects and improve data quality.
Outside Consultation Survey Unit staff can help select, design, and develop reliable and valid questionnaires. Previous clients have included United Way of Columbia County, Fox Chase Cancer Center, and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. To obtain a free cost estimate please submit this online form.
