Leadership for Geisinger’s research enterprise is provided by Bruce Hamory, MD who serves as the chief research officer and chief medical officer, emeritus; David Carey, PhD, director of the Weis Center for Research and Associate Chief Research Officer; Peter Berger, MD, Associate Chief Research Officer and Director of the Center for Clinical Studies; Walter “Buzz” Stewart, MD, MPH, director of the Center for Health Research and the Associate Chief Research Officer; and Judith Argon, MS, MTS, Chief Administrative Officer for Research.

Research in the clinical divisions is guided by the division chairs and department chiefs; some divisions have directors of research. A number of administrative directors and managers provide organizational support to the research community.
