Adult Cochlear Implants
A cochlear implant is an electronic device designed to provide sound information to individuals who have a profound sensorineural hearing loss in both ears and show little or no ability to hear sound even with hearing aids. The Cochlear Implant Team consists of an audiologist, otolaryngologist, and a psychologist who conduct thorough evaluations to determine whether an individuals would benefit from this device. Part of the device is surgically implanted while an additional part is worn on the body. Adult Cochlear Implants are available at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville only.
Industrial Hearing Screening
Extended exposure to load noises can lead to hearing loss. Monitoring the hearing of individuals working in high noise areas is available.
