Students of Leadership Wilkes-Barre Class of 2009 designed and planted the first cancer healing garden in northeast Pennsylvania on the grounds of the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center. The Garden, which is pictured above, measures 16 X 120 feet and features plants and flowers of different colors and textures that serve as focal points to help alleviate side effects of cancer treatment.

The garden contains the following features:

  • Trees
  • Flowers
  • Birdhouses
  • Benches
  • Water features

The Healing Garden Project Team raised funds, built blueprints and planted the garden as a gift to the community. The team is still seeking support from the community in the form of sponsorships and volunteers for ongoing maintenance and continual improvement. Individual, family and corporate sponsorships are available.
