RENEE WINTER-BERTSCH, MS, RD, LDN, CDE
Senior Director of Clinical Nutrition Services for the Geisinger Health System and Director of the Dietetic Internship

Renee oversees and is responsible for the administrative operation and clinical quality of the department and the internship. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and provides Diabetes Self-Management Training and Medical Nutrition Therapy for patients at one of the Geisinger Community Practice sites. She received her BS degree from State University of New York at Oneonta and Masters of Science and route to registration from Marywood University. Renee has over 26 years experience as a Clinical Dietitian primarily focusing in the last 16 years in clinical management. Her experiences prior to this included both acute clinical nutrition and Medical Nutrition Therapy in the outpatient areas with a focus on diabetes. Renee has worked in various hospital systems in Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland. She has been active in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American Diabetes Educators Association serving on local boards for both organizations in the past. Renee is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the Clinical Nutrition Manager, Diabetes Care and Education and Pediatric Nutrition Practice Groups.

Geisinger Central and Western Region

LORI KOWALSKI, MS, RD, LDN
Clinical Nutrition Manager - Central and Western Regions

As Clinical Nutrition Manager for Geisinger Health Systems - Central and Western Regions, Lori oversees the clinical dietetic staff both in the acute care hospital and in the outpatient clinics in these regions. Lori received her BS in Family Resources with an emphasis in nutrition and her route to registration through a coordinated undergraduate program at West Virginia University. She received her MS in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh. Lori has greater than 35 years of experience primarily focusing in pediatric and critical care nutrition. She has practiced in many other areas of clinical nutrition including pediatric small bowel and multi-visceral transplant, neonatology, adult burn care, and diabetes therapy in various hospital systems in Central and Western Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Lori was also an assistant medical editor for 3 years for the Max Planck Institute in Munich, Germany. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as various Dietetic practice groups within the Association.

SHARON MADALIS, MS, RD, LDN, CDE
Coordinator, Dietetic Internship

As Coordinator for the Internship, Sharon is responsible for daily operations. In addition, Sharon provides patient care at several Danville campus clinics and the Healthy Beginnings program in Obstetrics. Sharon received her BS in Medical Dietetics from Penn State University and completed a 3-Year Approved Professional Practice Program at Geisinger Medical Center as her route to registration. She has an MS in Instructional Technology from Bloomsburg University. Sharon is a Certified Diabetes Educator and has an Adult Weight Management Certificate of Training from the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Sharon's past job experiences with Geisinger include Diet Technician, Administrative Dietitian for Patient Food Service and Interventionist for the Teen Obesity Healthy Changes research program. Sharon has presented numerous posters at the Society of Nutrition Education and American Dietetic Association annual meetings and is currently a Program Reviewer for the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. She is editor of the Geisinger Health System "Nutrition News and Views" newsletter. Sharon recently co-authored a book entitled, "Truck Drivers: Stop Your Job From Killing You! The Dietitians' Guide to Smart Eating and Healthy Living for Truckers."

ELLEN HOOVER, RD, LDN, CNSC
Clinical Dietitian

Ellen provides nutritional care in the adult intensive care unit as well as for Select Specialty Hospital located on the GMC campus. She is a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician. She sits on the system-wide Pressure Ulcer committee. Ellen has an Associates Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management and certification in Computer Programming from Bucks County Community College. She completed her BS in Dietetics at Drexel University and graduated from GMC's Dietetic Internship. Ellen has worked as the Food Service Director/Clinical Dietitian for Sunbury Community Hospital as well as Renal Dietitian for Susquehanna Health System and Long-Term Care Dietitian for Sodexho Senior Services and Nottingham Village in Northumberland. Ellen is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics including several Dietetic Practice Groups, and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).

JOAN SAVAGE, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Joan Savage, RD, LDN, CDM provides nutrition care for patients on Cardiology and medical/surgical floors. She teaches outpatient cardiac nutrition classes for patients who have had coronary bypass surgery. She also attends to the nutritional needs of adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patients throughout the hospital. Joan's education includes a BS in Dietetics and route to registration through Eastern Michigan University and a BS in Food Service Management from Mansfield University. She has also been certified in Serv Safe since 2005 and has been a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) since 2002. Joan has been employed in health care for the past 20 years in acute care and long-term care facilities. In these areas she has worked in clinical and managerial capacities. Joan is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Health Care Communities Dietetics Practice group, and the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals.

DENISE HACKMAN, MBA, RD, LDN, CNSC
Clinical Dietitian-Pediatrics

Denise is the Coordinator of Clinical Nutrition services for Pediatrics including inpatient and outpatient services. She is also responsible for the nutritional management of patients in the neonatal intensive care unit and follow-up clinic. She has a BS degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Albright College and completed an internship at Indiana University Medical Center. She completed her MBA through Penn State. Denise also completed a pediatric nutrition fellowship at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and is a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician. Denise has extensive pediatric intensive care experiences from positions held at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, Lehigh Valley Hospital, and the WIC program. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group, and American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.

VONDA HETHERINGTON, RD, LDN, CDE
Outpatient Coordinator, Clinical Nutrition Services

Vonda is the coordinator of clinical nutrition services outpatient. As such, she oversees clinical dietitians in the renal area and is responsible for the care of hemodialysis outpatients at an off-site DaVita dialysis unit. She also coordinates Outpatient Nutrition Services in the Central Region. Vonda has a B.S. in Nutrition from Albright College and completed her dietetic internship at Geisinger Medical Center. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator. Vonda has almost 20 years' experience as a clinical dietitian in both outpatient and acute care, having worked in several settings in Ohio in the areas of eating disorders, WIC, Nephrology, diabetes, and clinical management. Vonda is a past recipient of the American Dietetic Association's Outstanding Student and Registered Young Dietitian of the Year awards. She has held various positions including President of the Northwest Ohio Dietetic Association. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Diabetes Care and Education and Renal Dietitians practice groups.

KATHY BOUDEMAN, RD, LDN, CDE
Clinical Dietitian

Kathy counsels patients primarily in the outpatient setting where she practices in the dual role of a registered dietitian and a Certified Diabetes Educator. She provides both Medical Nutrition Therapy and Diabetes Self-Management Training. Kathy counsels patients in the following clinics: Endocrinology, General Internal Medicine and High Risk Obstetrics and the Geisinger Health System Frackville Clinic. Kathy received a BS degree in Dietetics and Nutrition Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She completed a 3-year Approved Professional Practice Program at Geisinger Medical Center as her route to registration. Since becoming a registered dietitian, Kathy has practiced 25-plus years at Geisinger Medical Center. Her primary specialty area has always been educating patients with diabetes to help them better understand and manage their disease. She served as a volunteer reviewer for the ADA of applications submitted for Diabetes Patient Education program recognition. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Diabetes Care and Education Dietetic Practice Group, and the American Diabetes Association.

KIRA BOWMAN, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Kira provides outpatient nutrition counseling at the main hospital and at several outlying Geisinger Health System Clinics, including Knapper Clinic, Lewisburg, Milton, and Montoursville. She also provides nutritional care for prenatal, chronic kidney disease, and hemodialysis patients. Kira obtained a BS Degree in dietetics with a minor in Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Kira is a graduate of the Geisinger Medical Center Dietetic Internship Program. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Weight Management, Renal, and Diabetes Care & Education Dietetic Practice Groups.

MARIANNE WILLIAMS, MS, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Marianne serves as the dietitian for the Kidney, Pancreas and Liver Transplant teams and for patients on peritoneal and hemodialysis. She holds a BS in Home Economics and BS in Foods and Nutrition from Misericordia University and received her MS in Food and Nutrition and route to registration from Marywood University. Her prior work experience includes Clinical Nutrition Manager with Sodexo Marriott Health Care Services in California and Diabetes Educator with Susquehanna Health System. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics with an Adult Weight Management Certificate of Training and she belongs to the Renal Dietitians Practice Group.

KELLY FUGOK, RD, LDN, CSP
Clinical Dietitian

Kelly is responsible for the nutritional management of pediatric inpatients and outpatients including coverage of pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric nephrology, food allergy and eosinophilic esophagitis clinic, and pediatric home TPN patients. Kelly has a BS in Nutrition from Penn State University and was a member of the first dietetic internship class at Geisinger Medical Center. Kelly has pediatric nutrition experience from positions held at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and DuPont Hospital for Kids. Kelly is a Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition, as well as Pediatric and Adolescent Weight Management through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. She also completed the Neonatal Nutrition Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina and served as a Breastfeeding Counselor for Nursing Mothers Alliance in West Chester, PA. Kelly is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as the Nutrition Support and Pediatric Nutrition Practice Groups.

SARAH DAYTON, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Sarah provides nutrition care for inpatients admitted to intensive and special care units. She also works outpatient through with home tube feeding patients. She is one of the preceptors for Critical Care and Nutrition Support to the dietetic internship in the health system. Her education credentials include a Culinary Certificate and a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics/Nutrition from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She completed her dietetic internship at Geisinger Medical Center in 2011. Sarah is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Dietitians in Nutrition Support practice group, and The American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).

AUTUMN DELMONICO, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Autumn provides nutrition care and education to patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) who are admitted to the hospital. She also teaches cardiac nutrition classes for patients who have undergone coronary bypass surgery and is on the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) team in the neurology clinic. Autumn holds a BS degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Mansfield University. She completed her dietetic internship through Marywood University. Autumn was previously employed at UHS Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY as a Clinical Dietitian. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Medical Nutrition Practice Group, and Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Practice Group.

CORYN KALWANASKI, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Coryn provides nutrition care for inpatients on Medical/Surgical units as well as the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit. She also teaches cardiac nutrition classes for patients who have had cardiac surgery. Coryn holds a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Seton Hill University where she also completed the Coordinated Program in Nutrition/Dietetics.

NOEL WOODRUFF, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Noel provides nutrition care for inpatients admitted to medical/surgical units. She also teaches cardiac nutrition classes for patients who have undergone coronary bypass surgery. Noel holds a BS degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from West Chester University. She completed her dietetic internship through South Jersey Regional Medical Center in Vineland, New Jersey. Noel was also previously employed at South Jersey Regional Medical Center as a Clinical Dietitian. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

ANNA ZIEGLER, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Anna provides outpatient nutrition counseling at Geisinger Medical Center and surrounding GHS clinics including Lewisburg, Milton, Montoursville, Bloomsburg, Berwick and Shamokin. She also provides services to Healthy Beginnings patients in Selinsgrove, Berwick and Shamokin. . She obtained her Bachelors Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Mansfield University in 2011 and graduated from Geisinger Medical Center Dietetic Internship in 2012. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

AMANDA OTRUBA, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Amanda is responsible for providing nutrition care for inpatients admitted to the hematology/oncology unit as well as special care and respiratory intensive care units. She also provides outpatient nutrition counseling to oncology patients at a variety of clinics. Her education credentials include a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from West Chester University. She completed her dietetic internship at Geisinger Medical Center. Amanda is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as Oncology Nutrition dietetic practice group.

KASEI KOCHEL, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Kasei is responsible for the nutritional management of patients admitted to the adult intensive care unit as well as the gastrointestinal/surgical unit. She also teaches cardiac nutrition classes for patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass surgery. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from Penn State University. She completed her dietetic internship through ARAMARK at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Dietitians in Nutrition Support dietetic practice group.

LAURA HAND, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Laura provides nutrition care for inpatients and outpatients at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition Sciences from The Pennsylvania State University. She completed her dietetic internship through Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Laura also has experience working in long-term care.

KAREN WIESEN, MS, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Karen is the Inpatient Dietitian Coordinator and also provides nutrition care to patients on the Select Medical Hospital floor and in outpatient hemodialysis.. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from Penn State University, completed her dietetic training at St. Elizabeth's Hospital , Belleville, IL and received her MS in Clinical Dietetics from St. Louis University. She has been a clinical dietitian for 34 years with over 25 years experience as a renal dietitian. Prior to joining Geisinger, she was a renal dietitian for Washington University School of Medicine and adjunct clinical instructor and guest faculty at St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. She is past Chair of the National Kidney Foundation Council of Renal Nutrition and was the recipient of the 2007 National Kidney Foundation's Recognized Renal Dietitian Award and 2013 Outstanding Service Award.. She has spoken at local, regional and national conferences on nutrition and chronic kidney disease and home dialysis and is currently on the planning committee for the University of Missouri School of Medicine Annual Dialysis Conference. She has authored numerous professional journal articles, written chapters for the textbook Nutrition & Kidney Disease and was co-author of the first and second editions of A Clinical Guide to Nutrition Care in Kidney Disease.

JOYCE WHITFORD, RD, LDN, CDE
Clinical Dietitian

Joyce provides medical nutrition therapy for adults and pediatric patients in the following clinics: Lewistown, Grays Woods, Bellefonte, Scenery Park, Cold Springs, Phillipsburg and Juniata. She has over 30 years experience as a clinical dietitian in both inpatient and outpatient areas. Joyce has practiced 20 plus years at Geisinger clinics. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator. Joyce earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. She completed her dietetic internship at the VA Hospital in Houston, Texas. Joyce has promoted healthy nutrition on both radio and television. She is a member of the Diabetes Care and Education and Weight Management Group through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

MICHAEL E. NORNHOLD, RD.LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Michael provides nutrition care for inpatients admitted to medical/surgical units. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from Penn State University as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Bucknell University. He completed his dietetic internship through Bowling Green State University with rotations including Evangelical Hospital in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Michael is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

JULIE R. FISHER, RD, LDN, CDE
Clinical Dietitian

Julie provides medical nutrition therapy to inpatients and outpatients at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Julie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from The Pennsylvania State University and completed her dietetic internship at Virginia Tech University. She has been a certified diabetes educator since 2001. She provides individual and group instruction for diabetes self-management and offers support and guidance in the seven areas of diabetes care: healthy eating, being active, monitoring, taking medication, problem solving, reducing risks and healthy coping. Julie ha s special interest in wellness and serves as the chair for the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital employee wellness committee. She is member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the Academy of Nutritional and Dietetics and both Diabetes Care and Education and the Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Dietetic Practice Groups.

BRENDA L. YOHN, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Brenda provides medical nutrition therapy to inpatients and outpatients at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Brenda has experience in a wide variety of areas including acute care, surgical, oncology, orthopedics, pediatric, cardiac, weight management/bariatric nutrition, maternity, eating disorders, home care and hospice, and long-term care. Brenda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and completed her RD training through the Coordinated Program at Marywood University. Brenda has a certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management through the Commission on Dietetics Registration. She also has a special interest in weight management, oncology nutrition and community services. Brenda provides outpatient nutrition counseling in weight management/bariatric nutrition. She also provides counseling services to the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital Community Cancer Treatment Center and for Lewistown Home Care and Hospice. Brenda serves as a consultant for the Head Start and Early Head Start Program in Juniata County. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic and the Weight Management and Oncology Dietetic Practice Groups.

ANGELA J. JEFFREYS, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Angela provides nutrition care for inpatients admitted to the Children's Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from West Chester University. She completed her dietetic internship with a pediatric concentration at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. Angela is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

JULIA GROCKI, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Julia provides nutrition care to inpatients admitted to medical/surgical units. She overcame emotional eating, lost 140 pounds in the process, and has maintained this weight for over ten years, Her passion to help others achieve better health inspired her to become a dietitian and motivational speaker. Julia has spoken on the local and state level on her experience with emotional eating. She holds a BS degree in Chemistry from the University of Scranton and a MA degree in Chemistry from the University of Virginia. She completed her dietetic coursework, supervised practice and an MS in Nutrition at Marywood University. Julia has taught at Marywood University in the Science and Nutrition Departments. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Practice Group.

Geisinger Northeast region

STACY COOLBAUGH, MBA, RD, LDN
Clinical Nutrition Manager - Northeast Region

Stacy is the Clinical Nutrition Manager for Geisinger Health System - Northeast Region and also provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients in the Northeast. She oversees both the acute care hospital and the outpatient dietitians in this region. Stacy has experience as a Registered Dietitian in renal, acute care, long term care, as well as community and corporate wellness. She has served as an adjunct professor at Marywood University. Stacy holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Marywood University. Stacy is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, a member of the Clinical Nutrition Managers Dietetics Practice Group and member of the Northeast Dietetic Association. In the past, Stacy was named Young Dietitian of the Year by the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association.

SAMANTHA CORTESE, RD, LDN, CDE
Clinical Dietitian Specialist

Samantha provides outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy counseling at various locations throughout the Northeast region. She has special interests in weight management and diabetes management and is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). She graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences with an Applied Science focus. She completed her dietetic internship through the Pennsylvania State University, practicing clinical inpatient and outpatient skills at Hershey Medical Center. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Diabetes Care and Education Practice Groups.

KRIS DANILOVITZ, RD, LDN, CNSC
Clinical Dietitian Specialist

Kris is responsible for Medical Nutrition Therapy for the acute hospitalized patient care and is a Nutrition Support Certified Clinician (CNSC), participating on the Nutrition Support Team. She also covers the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and PCU (Progressive Care Unit). She participates as part of the Critical Care and IV Nutrition Committees. Her past experience with Geisinger includes outpatient nutrition counseling. Kris graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Nutrition and a Minor in Exercise and Sport Science. She completed her internship at Marywood University where she also completed some post-graduate coursework. Kris is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is a member of the Dietitians in Nutrition Support Practice Group and a member of the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).

MISTY DUCHNIK, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Misty is responsible for providing Medical Nutrition Therapy for patients at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. Her past experience includes outpatient dialysis, long term care, outpatient counseling, oncology and cardiac rehab. Misty received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from Arizona State University and completed her dietetic internship at Texas A & M University - Kingsville. Misty is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Diabetes Care and Education and Renal Dietitians dietetic practice groups.

CARRIE EDWARDS, MS, RD, LDN, CNSC
Clinical Dietitian Specialist

Carrie is responsible for Medical Nutrition Therapy for the acute hospitalized patients in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and PCU (Progressive Care Unit). She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the Robert E. Cook Honors College of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completed her dietetic internship at Geisinger Medical Center. She went on to complete her Master of Science degree in Organizational Management at Misericordia University. Carrie holds a certification as Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) and is a member of the Nutrition Support Team. Carrie is also a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a member of the Dietitians in Nutrition Support Practice Group.

ARLENE KRATZ, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Arlene is responsible for providing Medical Nutrition Therapy for patients admitted to the medical/surgical units at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center and to the Rehabilitation Unit on the Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre campus. Arlene has a special interest in Geriatric Nutrition and has an Adult Weight Management Certificate of Training from the Commission on Dietetic Registration. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition from College Misericordia and completed a one year dietetic trainee ship with the Saga Corp as her route to registration. Arlene is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a member of the Healthy Aging Practice Group.

KRISTIN MANNIX, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Kristen provides Medical Nutritional Therapy for pediatric patients in the outpatient setting throughout the Northeast region. Additionally, she covers the inpatient Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric units at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. JANET MILNER, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Janet provides Medical Nutrition Therapy at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center and various community practice sites in the Northeast region. Janet earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science through the Coordinated Undergraduate Program from Marywood College in Scranton, PA. She has special interests in heart health, eating disorders and diabetes management. Janet is currently working towards becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Janet was past resident for Multidisciplinary Coalition for Eating Disorders (McFed). Janet is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and belongs to the Sports Cardiovascular and Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group.

JENNIFER POWERS, RD, LDN, CDE
Clinical Dietitian Specialist

Jennifer provides Medical Nutrition Therapy at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center and the Geisinger Lake Scranton Clinic. She has a special interest in diabetes and is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Jennifer is also a part of the healthcare team available at the Henry Cancer Center at GWV. She assists persons with cancer in eating healthier before, during and after treatment, plus provides guidance in managing nutritional side effects. Jennifer graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Nutrition and completed her dietetic internship at Geisinger Medical Center. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a member of the Diabetes Care and Education and Oncology Dietetic Practice Groups.

LINDSAY SADOWSKI, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Lindsay provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to inpatients at Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre campuses. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University and completed her Dietetic Internship at the National Health Care Corporation in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Lindsay went to work for four years for the National Health Care Corporation in one of their skilled and intermediate care facilities in Nashville, Tennessee before returning back to her home state. She was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award in 2010. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

KIM SEGIEL, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Kim provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to outpatients at various Geisinger Health System community practice sites. She is a guest lecturer for Wilkes University Pharmacy School and has a special interest in caring for people with diabetes. Kim earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University and completed her dietetic internship at Marywood University. She is a member of the Diabetes Care and Education Practice Group through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

CYNTHIA STEMRICH, RD, LDN, CNSC
Clinical Dietitian Specialist

Cindy is responsible for inpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, covering the NICU, Pediatric Unit and Labor and Delivery Unit. She has special interests in Behavioral and Pediatric Nutrition. Cindy completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Neuroscience from King's College and then went on to attend Marywood University where she completed the Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics. Cindy holds a certification as Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC). Cindy is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the Behavioral Health, Pediatric Nutrition and Dietitians in Nutrition Support Dietetic Practice Groups.

GRACE ZELEZNOCK, RD, LDN, CDE
Clinical Dietitian Specialist

Grace provides Medical Nutrition Therapy at various Geisinger Health System community practice sites for adult and pediatric patients. She is also an Adult Diabetes Educator as part of the American Diabetes Association recognized program with the Geisinger Health System. Grace is a Certified Diabetes Educator and has an Adult Weight Management Certificate of Training from the Commission on Dietetic Registration. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University and completed her dietetic internship at Ingall's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Grace is a past recipient of the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award. Grace has been a board member of the Northeast Association of Diabetes Educators (NEADE), is a current member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, and is a member of the Diabetes Care and Education and Pediatric Nutrition Practice Groups through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

SUSAN CASEY, MS, RD, LDN
Clinical Nutrition Manager - Geisinger Community Medical Center and Mountain View Care Center

Susan is the Clinical Nutrition Manager for Geisinger Community Medical Center and Mountain View Care Center. She provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients in the Scranton area. Susan oversees both the acute care hospital dietitians, outpatient diabetes nurse educator and long term care dietitians in this region. She has experience as a Registered Dietitian with a focus on critical care nutrition. Susan had been employed with various food service contracting companies in Pennsylvania and Maryland. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Marywood University's Coordinated Undergraduate Program as well as a Master's of Science degree in Food and Nutrition from Marywood University. Susan is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Clinical Nutrition Managers Dietetics Practice Group and the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also a member of Kappa Omicron and Phi Honor Society.

SHARON CHAPMAN, RN, BSN, CDE
Diabetes Nurse Educator

Sharon provides Diabetes Self-Management training for patients with diabetes for inpatients and outpatients at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and is a certified insulin pump trainer. Sharon is a graduated from Scranton Community Medical Center's School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marywood University. Sharon has been a nurse for forty years and has had experience as a staff nurse in the newborn nursery, pediatrics and postpartum care for fifteen years. She has also conducted prenatal education, breastfeeding and postpartum education classes. Sharon has also worked in Home Health performing visits and assessments of the new mother and newborn. She is a CPR instructor through the American Heart Association, a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and a clinical and lab instructor for Marywood University and the University of Scranton.

NICOLE COPPOLA, MS, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Nicole provides nutrition care for inpatients in the telemetry, cardiac step-down, pediatric and medical/surgical units at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master's of Science degree from Marywood University. Nicole has experience in inpatient and outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy, as well as promoting health and nutrition through various forms of local media. Nicole was previously employed as a Clinical Nutrition Manager for Sodexo and Director of Dining Services for Golden Living. She is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Lambda Graduate National Honor Society.

GINA MCARDLE, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Gina provides nutrition care to inpatients in the medical/surgical units at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She serves on the Nutrition Education and Research Committees. Gina received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University and completed her dietetic training through the Marywood University dietetic internship. She has provided long term care nutrition. Gina is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the Medical Nutrition Therapy Practice Group.

ELIZABETH MCDONALD, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Elizabeth is responsible for inpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy at Geisinger Community Medical Center, covering the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardio Thoracic Intensive Care (CT ICU), trauma and neuro units as well as Behavioral Health. She has a special interest in nutrition support and medical ethics. Liz serves on the Geisinger Community Medical Center Ethics Committees. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Marywood University. Liz was also a member of the 2014 Physician Assistant Program at Marywood University. She has been employed by Geisinger Clinical Nutrition for the past eight years, also serving at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center and Geisinger Medical Center campuses. Her experience includes oncology, cardiac and critical care nutrition. Liz is a member the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition Practice Group and American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.

LAURIE MILLER, RD, LDN, CNSC
Clinical Dietitian

Laurie provides nutrition care for patients in the intensive care unit as well as the advanced care unit/step down ICU at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Marywood University's Coordinated Undergraduate Program. Laurie is also a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC). She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Dietitians in Nutrition Support Practice Group.

PAULETTE MORDENTE, MS, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Paulette is responsible for the Clinical Nutrition Department daily operations at Mountain View Care Center, a 180-bed rehabilitation and long term care center. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Foods/Nutrition from Misericordia University as well as Master degree in Foods/Nutrition from Marywood University. Paulette has practiced clinical nutrition in both acute and long term care settings with extensive experience working with the geriatric population. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Northeast Dietetic Association as well as the Dietitians in Health Care Communities Practice Group.

MARION RAGANTESI, RD, LDN
Clinical Dietitian

Marion is responsible for assessing and meeting the individual nutritional needs of the residents in the Mountain View Care Center. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics and Nutrition from Marywood University. Marion has extensive experience as a Clinical Dietitian in long term care. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the Dietetic Practice Group/Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine.
