2011 Wellness is for Everyone Health Fair                   

Summer sandals go away, coats come out and leaves begin to change colors but wellness always stays in season.  On October 20, thirty five vendors participated in the 8^th Annual Wellness Health Fair at the Danville State Hospital (DSH) gymnasium. Good health through awareness was promoted to more than 300 staff, family, caregivers and adult individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Vendor tables suggested ways to encourage and promote healthy lifestyles including offering healthy food snacks as entertainment such the Ray of Hope singing group, a dog show and local cloggers performed on stage. 

Some of the free screenings available for adults included blood pressure, vision/hearing testing and measuring height/weight/body mass index. Participants walked about the gym engaging in fun and fitness through music, zumba and Wii-Fit while others pampered themselves with massage therapy, face painting, paraffin hand treatments and complimentary nail art. Participant and vendor door prizes were also awarded throughout the day.

This event is sponsored each year by The Central Pa HCQU, CMSU Mental Retardation Services, Community Services Group Inc., Suncom Industries, Hope Enterprise, Inc. and DSH.
