Hearing loss can greatly impair an individual’s quality of life, including his or her ability to learn and communicate in the world. Geisinger’s Audiologists understand the frustration our patients experience, and are dedicated to providing leading-edge evaluation, diagnosis and rehabilitation.
Our services include
- Diagnostics/testing — audiometry to determine the nature and degree of hearing loss, auditory brain stem response testing to evaluate hearing nerves and other select tests.
- Pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders
- Rehabilitation — hearing aid consultation, proper fitting, guidance on using other assistive listening devices such as phone amplifiers and management of tinnitus (ringing of the ears).
Among our specialized services are
Adult and pediatric cochlear implants — for individuals who have profound or complete hearing loss in both ears, cochlear implants are surgically implanted. A device worn alongside the back of the ear emits signals that the brain then translates into sound.
Osseointegrated devices — surgically implanted titanium devices send sound vibrations directly to the inner ear through the bone.
Geisinger’s Audiology services abide by the code of ethics of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). All of our audiologists are certified by the ASHA and licensed by the state of Pennsylvania. Click for more information on Geisinger's audiology service.
