Geriatric Assessment Program

Especially Designed for Older Adults

Geisinger's Internal Medicine service offers a special Geriatric Assessment Program dedicated to helping seniors live life to the fullest. For those 60 and older, the program provides primary and geriatric care right at the hospital, for easy follow-up and testing, as well as subspecialty consultation with other Geisinger physicians.

Our goal is to provide all-in-one service within a comforting setting, including:

  • Helping seniors and their families manage the aging process
  • Promoting good health and independence
  • Identifying and overcoming obstacles
  • Enhancing quality of life
  • Evaluating the need for nursing home placement or assisted living
  • Recommending the best environment for care

We even offer same-day appointments if you are acutely ill and require urgent care.

If you or a senior loved one has experienced any of the following, you will benefit from our Geriatric Assessment Program:

  • Memory problems
  • Confusion in taking multiple medications
  • Depressed mood
  • Repeated falling
  • Loss of bladder control
  • General reliance on others for certain needs
