Having your primary care doctor right at the hospital
Our Internal Medicine services provide comprehensive medical and primary care right on the Geisinger Medical Center and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center campuses. We care for patients 18 years and older, with special emphasis on prevention and treatment of chronic conditions. Board-certified internal medicine physicians, nurses and support staff are dedicated to offering a spectrum of services, including an executive health program, and geriatric assessment program, as well as expertise in women’s health.
Patients also benefit from a number of unique services not found in a typical Internal Medicine practice:
Behavioral Health Services — patients have access to a Geisinger psychologist for one-on-one sessions.
Adult Down Syndrome Clinic — a multidisciplinary team cares for the special needs of adult Down Syndrome patients, helping to deliver regular preventive and other primary care.
Diabetic Nurse Consultative Services — a certified diabetes nurse educator helps patients manage their diabetes for healthier daily living.
Nutritional Services — recognizing the link between diet and disease prevention, a registered dietician is available to all of our patients.
High Blood Pressure Clinic — a registered nurse and pharmacist work with patients who have difficulty managing their blood pressure to help them understand their medications and better manage their risk factors.
Advanced Medical Home Care — for Medicare patients who qualify, this service designates a registered nurse/case manager from our Care Management team to coordinate care such as home nursing, durable medical supply needs, transition to rehab and more.
