From trauma to illness, our surgeons specialize in care for children
If a child needs surgery, it’s often for a medical condition or injury you did not expect, and requires pediatric surgical experts. Our pediatric surgeons bring experience and expertise in a broad range of surgical care for children.
What is a Pediatric Surgeon?
Pediatric surgeons specialize in the treatment of illnesses and injury that require surgery in children. These surgeons operate and care for children with medical conditions present from birth and those that develop due to disease or illness through the teenage years. Pediatric surgeons have trained specifically to work with children and understand their special needs.
Pediatric surgeons also lead the team to care for victims of trauma and those who need surgery for other critical conditions. Pediatric surgeons complete two years of training exclusively in pediatric surgery and earn special certification in the subspecialty of pediatrics. Pediatric surgeons work closely with other pediatric specialists who are also experts in caring for children before, during and after surgery, using tools and techniques designed just for children. And, we bring this level of expertise to you and your family in central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
